A dear friend of mine came to #Mexico last week. We haven´t seen each other in a while so we had lunch together. As her #Spanish is not very good we were speaking in #English. We were sitting outside a little #restaurant in la Condesa having #beer and remembering our good times together, when out of the blue some guy approached to us and started calling us names and stuff.

Go back to #America pinches gringos, he yelled at us before running away. Later that day, I watched on the #news the several attacks that Afro-American young people have been suffering by white police officers. #Racism is a social behavior that have been present in our societies and that have always been a hard virus to take down. However, we have always found a way to put our differences away, until now.

A guy, that every time that appears on the media insults an specific community can´t be the president of the most powerful nation of the world. @realDonaldTrump  has proven not only to be narcissistic but also to be ignorant and incompetent. Several members of his party have said on the media that they won´t support @realDonaldTrump  anymore.

President @BarackObama , on a press conference held on Tuesday asked Republicans to stop supporting @realDonaldTrump, a man he described as unfit and woefully prepared to be the lead of the country. And this is not just my opinion, he continued, observing that Republican leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, had frequently denounced their nominee’s statements. If you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him? he asked. What does this say about your party that this is your standard-bearer? This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe. This is daily, weekly.

@realDonaldTrump might not be the next president of the U.S. but he had already created a hate based campaign. His political platform might not even be applicable but he had already seeded this hateful ideas towards America. Taking into consideration the worldwide economic issues, the Climate Change that keeps advancing, poverty disseminated all over the world; I think we can afford fighting each other.

Racism have always been based on ignorance and prejudice. Latinos are not rapists nor Muslims terrorists. This type of statements are based on a reduction of the cultural heritage. @realDonaldTrump have showed that a man that hesitates of every human been living on the United States of America can´t have the needed qualifications to lead one of the biggest military structures all over the world.

He have to learn from our mistakes, we can give power to a man that is more interested in division that in dialogue. He had had many examples across the history: Adolf Hittler is perhaps the one everybody remembers but let’s not forget what happened in Rwanda, Brasil, Honduras, Nicaragua, Poland, Mexico, Nigeria, etc. Hate is never the solution. #Racism is not the pad.

But also we can´t be naive enough to think @HillaryClinton  is the answer. #Americans will have a big responsibility next November because the will not only be selecting the next president of their country, the will also be shaping their relationship with the rest of the world. Next November we can live an American Nightmare if @realDonaldTrump jumps into the White House.

As a Latino I´m sure of two things: the Mexican president, @EPN,  is not ready to have an equal-to-equal relationship with any of the possible presidents of the United States but I´m also sure that Mexican people are more willing to build bridges than walls with our American brothers. Let´s keep dreaming together, let´s understand our differences and let´s be good neighbors. Let´s be, together, the strongest alliance in Latin America.
